AS Monaco suffered a heavy defeat at the hands of Real Madrid in the Champions League, losing 6-1 at the Bernabéu. The visitors were ahead within five minutes, thanks to a fine collective move that ended with Kylian Mbappé's exquisite finish. Two minutes later, Real Madrid nearly doubled their lead with a rapid counterattack, but Vini Jr.'s left-footed strike flew inches wide of the target. Real Madrid continued to press forward, and the visiting goalkeeper was forced into an impressive stop with 20 minutes gone, reacting well after Dier's attempted clearance from an Arda Güler free-kick. On 26 minutes, Real Madrid got their reward. What a goal it was. Camavinga started it with a back-heel pass in midfield and Arda Güler followed it up with a spectacular pass on the run to Vini Jr, who assisted with the outside of his boot for Mbappé to score at his leisure. It was a brace and the Frenchman's 11th goal in the competition. Five minutes later, Teze almost made it 2-1 with a shot from the edge of the area that crashed against the crossbar and Ansu Fati also had a left-footed shot from inside the area that Courtois saved well in the 42nd minute. The last chance of the first half fell to the home side as Mastantuono's cross was headed over the bar by Bellingham. The second half followed the same script and the same outcome as the first half. After five minutes, Real Madrid struck again. This time it was Mastantuono with a right-footed cross after the second assist of the night from Vini Jr. The Brazilian was enjoying himself and in the 55th minute he showed his class again with another run down the left wing and a pass to Arda Güler that Kehrer could only turn into his own net. The No. 7's brilliant performance continued and in the 63rd minute, he scored a deserved goal. Arda Güler recovered the ball in midfield, and the Brazilian did the rest. He drove to the edge of the area, beat Kehrer with a beautiful piece of skill and put the ball in the top corner. 5-0. Madrid were on a rampage and might even have scored again in the 64th minute, but Arda Güler's shot from inside the area skimmed the visitors' goalpost. In the 72nd minute, Teze reduced the deficit, but eight minutes later, Bellingham popped up to make it 6-1, dribbling past goalkeeper Köhn and scoring after an assist from Valverde. Moments later, the youth player Mesonero made his debut, replacing the Uruguayan. An emphatic win and the fifth victory in the competition.
