AS Monaco moved into the European places in Ligue 1 with a 2-0 win over Brest. Folarin Balogun scored his fourth consecutive goal in the league, netting in the first half. The former Arsenal man has become a much more complete forward this season and one so valuable to his team. Monaco struggled to give themselves a cushion at the second-half, inciting Sébastien Pocognoli to make attacking changes, despite their lead. The Belgian was clearly desperate for a second goal… and he got it. Mika Biereth made the run in behind and his ball across goal found Mamadou Coulibaly. He fluffed his finish but put it on a plate for Aleksandr Golovin to fire into the roof of the net. Brest never truly pushed to get back into the game, only registering their first shot on target in the 82nd minute. A professional job from Les Monégasques, whose eight-game unbeaten run in the league has them back in the race for European football.
